RenounceSanctimony

for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God

Romans 3:23

A big tun-off for non-believers is sanctimonious believers.

When a Christian tries to portray themselves as perfect, which everyone knows is impossible, they come across as sanctimonious.

Everyone is a sinner, even the little old lady, in the front row of the church, who shows up for every event, and prays for everyone. She sins too. Nobody is excluded.

Perfection is unattainable.

Part of becoming a Christian is admitting that we are flawed, that we are sinners, and understanding that we need to repent. That is not a one time process, Christians should be constantly asking for forgiveness, because we are constantly failing.

The worst press for Christianity is when someone calling themselves a Christian, who has publicly made themselves out to be without flaw, inevitably, is caught acting in a very flawed way.

Instead, we should be upfront with our sin. Not necessarily going into specifics, but admitting, publicly, that we have struggled too.

Be real, be raw, be relatable...the world needs us to RenounceSanctimony.
