TheVeracity
The grass withers, the flower fades, But the word of our God stands forever.
Isaiah 40:8
Veracity: habitual observance of truth in speech or statement; truthfulness:
If you are a Christian it is imperative to believe the veracity of the Bible, it is our only truth source. If we don't believe it in its entirety, how can we ask a non-believer to believe any part of it?
Consider this:
If you don't believe the literal story of Noah and the flood, then you have to believe that Jesus lied in Matthew 24:38-39 when He said, (38 For in the days before the flood, people were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, up to the day Noah entered the ark; 39 and they knew nothing about what would happen until the flood came and took them all away. That is how it will be at the coming of the Son of Man.).
If you believe in evolution and not in creation as seen in Genesis 1:27, then you have to believe that Jesus lied in Matthew 9:4 (He answered, “Have you not read that he who created them from the beginning made them male and female,).
How can you claim to be a Christian but believe that our savior was a liar? How can you be a Christian and not believe the veracity of the Bible?
You can't!
Furthermore, how can anyone claim to be a Christian if they don’t know what the Bible actually says? Possibly the greatest plague covering the church today is Bible illiteracy. Not knowing what the Bible actually says about the important topics of the day creates vulnerable believers. Believers that are easily swayed by seemingly convincing arguments.
Moral relativism has taken over our society and has moved us toward a belief that truth is subjective, that there is no absolute truth, the Bible would disagree, and so should Christians.
There is a way that seems right to a man,
But its end is the way of death.
Proverbs 14:12
We can’t confront a world that is moving away from truth if we don’t know what we believe, why we believe it, and that it is fully true. We must believe in the veracity of the Bible.
The truly tragic thing, that most Christians don’t understand, is that Christian belief is not a great leap of faith, there is actual verifiable and compelling proof of the veracity of the Bible. Verifiable proof from creation to the Resurrection. For the Christian, proving that what we believe is rational comes about through apologetics which is a biblically based method for determining the veracity of biblical truth so that we can defend the hope we have. Plus, it is an imperative or command for all Christians that comes from 1 Peter.
1 Peter 3:15 states, “always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect.”
Christians must know what we believe and why we believe it…today more than ever.
